{"id":9720,"date":"2017-08-02T09:32:09","date_gmt":"2017-08-02T08:32:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.devopsonline.co.uk\/?p=9720"},"modified":"2017-08-02T09:33:23","modified_gmt":"2017-08-02T08:33:23","slug":"ovh-opens-first-many-datacentres","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devopsnews.online\/ovh-opens-first-many-datacentres\/","title":{"rendered":"OVH opens the \u2018first of many\u2019 datacentres"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OVH has opened its new datacentre in south east London for the first time.<\/p>\n<p>The French cloud provider\u2019s datacentre aims to provide better reliability, speed and security for customers invited by OVH to use its 40,000 servers and facilities.<\/p>\n<p>OVH received \u20ac400million in funding from nine banking companies in June 2017 and a \u20ac250million investment from investment firms KKR and TowerBrook in October 2016.<\/p>\n<p>OVH\u2019s head, Hiren Parekh, said to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.computerweekly.com\/news\/450423611\/OVH-opens-first-UK-datacentre-in-South-London\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Computer Weekly<\/a>: \u201cThe UK market interfaces with international businesses, not only in Europe but around the world.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo by having a physical presence in the UK,\u00a0OVH\u00a0is not only addressing the local market at SMEs or even large companies, we\u2019re also supporting international trade through new and substantial export opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Although its datacentre opening was delayed by several months, and external factors were given the blame, the company is planning to introduce two other datacentres, this time in the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike all projects of this scale, there can be delays due to external causes, which are beyond OVH\u2019s control. Because of the size of the project, it can be related to any works around the building \u2013 there are many different factors,\u201d added Parekh.<\/p>\n<p>Parekh also noted that he is hoping to open
