{"id":9263,"date":"2017-06-28T12:14:00","date_gmt":"2017-06-28T11:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.devopsonline.co.uk\/?p=9263"},"modified":"2017-06-28T18:17:34","modified_gmt":"2017-06-28T17:17:34","slug":"google-slapped-by-us2-4-billion-antitrust-fine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devopsnews.online\/google-slapped-by-us2-4-billion-antitrust-fine\/","title":{"rendered":"Google slapped by $US2.4 billion antitrust fine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google has been fined US$2.4billion by Brussels for abusing its market dominance as a search engine, through promoting its own shopping service at the top of search results.<\/p>\n<p>European Commissioner (EC) Margrethe Vestager fined the tech giant after investigating the search engine for seven-years and finding antitrust issues.<\/p>\n<p>Last July the EC filed their third antitrust against Google, focusing on whether the company blocks out rivals that similarly advertise online.<\/p>\n<p>According to Edison Investment Research Analyst, Richard Windsor, commissioners also looked at the way Google\u2019s Android mobile phone apps bundle together in April last year, which could result in a US$6billion fine.<\/p>\n<h2>Abused market dominance<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cGoogle abused its market dominance as a search engine by promoting its own results, and demoting those of competitors.
