The federal government of Canada has recently announced that the Pan-Canadian Artificial Intelligence Strategy will receive a $443 million investment.<\/p>\n
Indeed,\u00a0Fran\u00e7ois-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry, declared that artificial intelligence (AI) was a key part of Ottawa\u2019s plan to make the economy stronger and that it will help harness the full potential of AI to accelerate trustworthy technology development while fostering diversity and cooperation across the AI domain.<\/p>\n
The investment will cover\u00a0Canada\u2019s national AI institutes,\u00a0Canada\u2019s Global Innovation Clusters, the Standards Council of Canada,\u00a0Canadian Institute for Advanced Research (CIFAR). This will aim to improve and grow AI research and commercialization as well as develop\u00a0made-in-Canada AI solutions and\u00a0advance the adoption of standards and a conformity assessment program related to AI.<\/p>\n
It hopes to\u00a0attract, retain, and develop academic research talent and maintain centers of research, innovation, and training at Canada\u2019s national AI institutes. By doing so, the Minister wants Canada to become a leader in the digital and the data-driven economy and attract AI talents.<\/p>\n
