This project aims to help KAZ Mineral, a leading copper production company in Kazakhstan, in protecting and maintaining its operations, especially in case of a disaster.<\/p>\n<p>The company has been subjected to many unpredictable natural disasters over the years, leading them to need to update its business continuity planning. Hence, it asked IBM to build a cloud-based disaster recovery site for its on-premises data center.<\/p>\n<p>The site is designed to automate the processes of migrating, recovering, testing, re-protecting, and failing-back virtual machine workloads and reach target service level objectives. \u00a0This hybrid cloud approach will help KAZ Minerals to effectively renovate mission-critical business applications, including enterprise resource planning and analytics, in case of a disaster.<\/p>\n<p>With IBM&#8217;s public cloud, the company will be able to use the native redundancy, scalability, availability, and flexibility of the cloud platform as well as avoiding extra spending on IT infrastructures for the on-premises system.<\/p>\n<p>The cloud-based disaster recovery site was implemented in only four months and the required resources are scaled up in case of a disaster.\u00a0 With this hybrid cloud approach, the company has made its business resilient without making the IT infrastructure redundant. It can thus focus on primordial operations and strategic development.<\/p>\n<p>The disaster recovery site contains information technologies and best practices to prevent or lessen data loss and business disrupting during catastrophic events. Having a cloud-based backup and disaster recovery solution provide support for on-premises and cloud-based production environments.<\/p>\n<p>Cloud-based disaster recovery solutions are now becoming more and more appealing to businesses.
