They chose these organisations based on the leadership of three areas.<\/p>\n<p>The first of these was looking at product, specifically at the capabilities and services of their features. The second factor was examining innovation. Here, researchers observed what customers require to keep up with their requirements and the third was investigating market aspects, which was based on a review of global reach and the execution of marketing strategy.<\/p>\n<p>In its evaluation of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wso2.com\/identity-and-access-management\/?utm_source=pressrelease&amp;utm_medium=pr&amp;utm_campaign=kuppingercole_leadership_compass_aug19\">WSO2 Identity Server<\/a>, the report selected the open source company as a leader in each of the three specific areas. The reason that WSO2 was ranked so highly was due to its strengths in security, functionality, interoperability and usability. This also guided the company towards being an overall leader in the sector.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>The need for identity API Platforms<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Traditionally, identity and access management (IAM) solutions are centralised and monolithic. However, hybrid environments that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devopsonline.co.uk\/atomist-release-drift-management-feature-for-cloud-native-software\/\">span across on-premises and the cloud,<\/a> platforms that provide identity APIs are getting ever more popular.<\/p>\n<p>The KuppingerCole report suggests, \u201cBy exposing key functionality via APIs, it allows for workflow and orchestration capabilities across environments as well as better DevOps support through automation. Another critical characteristic of Identity API Platforms is their focus on being developer-centric. In a nutshell, IAM is continuing to evolve to meet the growing list of IAM requirements.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Evaluating WSO2 identity server<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>WSO2 Identity Server was also cited in the report for its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.devopsonline.co.uk\/wso2-open-banking-helps-banks-reach-deadlines\/\">open source nature<\/a> and its forte in providing APIs that focus on IAM, customer IAM, and identity-as-a-service (IDaaS) use cases. Additionally, the research also mentions the product\u2019s support for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid delivery models.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe success of a digital business is linked to how well it maintains a trusted ecosystem for consumers and business partners. Increasingly, this trust is enabled by identity APIs, which ensure that only the right people have access to the right systems, apps, and data,\u201d said WSO2 President COO Shevan Goonetilleke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are honoured to be recognised as the only fully open source leader in the KuppingerCole Identity API Platforms Leadership Compass 2019 report, which provides valuable insights into the integral role of APIs in identity solutions.
