{"id":12039,"date":"2018-03-07T10:28:26","date_gmt":"2018-03-07T09:28:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.devopsonline.co.uk\/?p=12039"},"modified":"2018-03-07T12:18:13","modified_gmt":"2018-03-07T11:18:13","slug":"scalr-uncovers-new-insights-regarding-multi-cloud-adoption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devopsnews.online\/scalr-uncovers-new-insights-regarding-multi-cloud-adoption\/","title":{"rendered":"Scalr uncovers new insights regarding multi-cloud adoption"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Scalr\u00a0today announced the results of its 2<em>018 Enterprise Cloud Management Landscape Survey,\u00a0<\/em>uncovering new insights about multi-cloud adoption, management and concerns related to cost, security, automation and self-service.<\/p>\n<p>According to the survey, over 75% of enterprises are either currently using or evaluating a cloud\u00a0management platform (CMP) to balance the complex needs of multiple enterprise groups and create secure, cost-effective cloud environments.<\/p>\n<p>Despite this, 35% indicated they already have a CMP in place, with 40% of respondents saying they actively evaluate cloud management solutions, showing a clear acceleration of the cloud management market.<\/p>\n<h2>Security concerns<\/h2>\n<p>Security stood out as the main concern for enterprises adopting cloud, with 62% ranking it as the number one concern.<\/p>\n<p>While\u00a050% of enterprises ranked disaster recovery as the top reason for implementing multiple clouds.<\/p>\n<p>Amazon Web Services (AWS) remains the most popular cloud platform, with 25.9% of enterprises using it compared to 23.9% for Microsoft Azure and 20.9% for VMware.<\/p>\n<h2>Hybrid cloud strategy<\/h2>\n<p>However, Microsoft Azure users are more likely than AWS and VMware users to leverage those platforms for both development and production environments. 88% of enterprise Azure users use it for both, followed by 73% for VMware and 72% for AWS.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore,\u00a083% of respondents are focusing on a hybrid cloud strategy, composed of multiple private and public clouds.<\/p>\n<p>Hybrid cloud is already deployed at 32% of enterprises, whereas another 17% are about to deploy and 27% are evaluating doing so.<\/p>\n<p>Sebastian Stadil, founder and CEO of Scalr, commented: \u201cIt\u2019s no secret that enterprises have turned to the cloud to innovate faster. We wanted to dive deeper to see how they\u2019re using different cloud platforms and dealing with the complexities that come from multi-cloud environments.<\/p>\n<h2>Cost control<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cAs the Scalr survey indicates, as more businesses use a variety of cloud platforms in enterprise-wide environments, challenges that were able to be addressed during the initial wave of niche cloud deployments, like security, are again top concerns in this emerging \u2018Cloud 2.0\u2019 world.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The vast majority of enterprises are looking to cloud management platforms to provide
