Westminster Council finances broadband

To help speed up London businesses, Westminster City Council has secured £2.8 million to fund a local broadband connection voucher scheme, offering small and media enterprises (SMEs) ultrafast connections.

The new scheme: Connect Westminster, will offer 1,000 local companies vouchers up to £2,000 towards ultrafast broadband connections.

Businesses will be able to share their vouchers with multi-occupancy offices, with connections having the capability to deliver at least 30Mbp.

Westminster Council’s Deputy Leader, Rober Davis said: “Westminster is a national global centre of employment and industry, containing more businesses and employees than any other London borough.

“47,165 businesses and 697,400 jobs with an expected 14% projected employee growth between 2016 and 2041 illustrates the significance of Westminster’s contribution to London’s economy and our need for ultrafast broadband, so we can continue to be the best place in the UK to start and grow a business.”
