The service is now in use by hundreds of thousands of developers, offering them access to a real-time database that is managed and scaled for them by Google.

Firestore was designed to support a number of cases, such as making it easier for developers to build offline apps with the help of a local database for web, iOS and Android, and to sync data between different apps and users in real time, according to Tech Crunch.

Without using an intermediary server, consumers can connect their app directly to the database.
