Singapore Exchange and Temasek to partner to improve digital asset infrastructure

Singapore Exchange (SGX) and Temasek have started a partnership to improve digital asset infrastructure by using blockchain or distributed ledger technology (DLT).

It was reported that the project seeks to be the Asia Pacific region’s first exchange-managed digital asset venture, which will be focused on improving capital markets workflows through DLT-enabled smart contracts, and related tokenization technologies.

By doing so, the SGX and Temasek are looking to combine SGX’s multi-asset experience in managing and operating market infrastructure with the expertise of Temasek in blockchain, DLT, and related ecosystem connectivity.

Moreover, this partnership will be working to fix income issuance platforms to connect to their post-trade and asset servicing infrastructure. Hence, this should offer a complete issuance-to-settlement network for handling Asian bonds. The joint venture will focus on other emerging asset classes that have seen increasing market demand, like dedicated funds and sustainable finance initiatives.

Therefore, the partnership aims to extend the collaboration between SGX, Temasek, and HSBC.
