Policymakers are getting concerned about the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) although they lack consensus on how.

Indeed, a recent study by Clifford Chance found out that there is no real consensus on how to tackle emerging issues with AI. Only 23% of tech policy experts rate algorithmic bias and 33% ethical use of AI as a top priority for regulation. There are also concerns over AI creating inequalities, by benefitting bigger businesses rather than the young or those from minority groups.

Policymakers are working in developing regulations in order to improve cybersecurity mostly. 83% of tech policy experts consider AI vital for business but don’t know how to make it safe and secure.

Hence, it is expected that the regulatory landscape for AI will emerge gradually, with a mixture of AI-specific and non-AI-specific binding rules, non-binding codes of practice, and sets of regulatory guidance.
