The National Cyber Director has recently announced that he will focus on staffing, promoting safe software, and increasing the workforce within cybersecurity.

Indeed, Director Chris Inglis aims to raise the collective floor of U.S. cybersecurity knowledge and lay the groundwork for longer-term investments in secure software and hardware. To do so, the office of the National Cyber Director is looking to rise to 85 employees as well as provide more coherence to the distinct roles and responsibilities among agencies within the federal government regarding cybersecurity.

Moreover, he is trying to broaden cyber budgets to include assessments of the proper roles and responsibilities for staff for more efficient resource allocation. The office will also promote transparency programs in the software supply chain and enhance basic cyber hygiene among the U.S. workforce.

Inglis declared to be committed to improving the cybersecurity workforce both inside and outside the federal government.
