Education tech firm TES Global reduces IT infrastructure significantly by moving to AWS

TES Global, a digital education company committed to supporting teaching and learning, has moved from a private datacentre to Amazon Web Services (AWS) public cloud.

The move, enabled by Contino, a global DevOps and continuous delivery consultancy, has helped TES secure infrastructure agility, benefit from the scalability, robustness and performance benefits of the public cloud, and decrease operational and infrastructure costs significantly.

After undertaking a review of its technology platforms, TES, which publishes titles such as The Times Educational Supplement and The Times Higher Education, decided that a strategic refresh of its technology platforms was required, based on moving from a private datacentre to AWS public cloud.

This has allowed developers to provision servers and environments on demand, with the aim of reducing time to market and enabling a leaner and faster IT organisation.

TES Global recognised that Contino would be the perfect partner to support this regeneration, due to its extensive expertise in continuous delivery and DevOps led software development. Working together, TES was able to fulfil its cloud ambitions utilising AWS, while keeping its existing 7 million registered users online in over 274 countries engaged with its fast growing online communities.
