It was recently found out that the rising demand for public cloud services has led to a surge in datacentre hardware and software spending.

Indeed, a study by Synergy Research Group showed that the money spent on datacentre hardware and software grew by 10% between 2020 and 2021 due to the increased spending by public cloud giants. It was reported that a total of $185bn was spent on datacentre infrastructure equipment in 2021.

Cloud providers have spent 20% more on datacentre hardware and software in 2021 and it is expected that this trend will only continue in the next year. The total datacentre equipment market is also set to keep on expanding over the next five years.
