Data centre operators to invest more in digital infrastructure

It was recently reported that data center operators across Africa are planning to invest more into digital services and infrastructures in the coming years.

Indeed, operators aim to expand their investments so that large enterprises can deliver services across Africa and allow global content delivery networks to provide seamless services to their customers. It was found out that major gaps exist in the market such as the fact that West Africa currently delivers less than 10% of the total African data center capacity and has only 1% of the global data center capacity.

Hence, it is vital that investments in the digital infrastructure space in the region are accelerated. Operators hope to increase access to broadband as well as expect growth in the industry with the new submarine cables planned by large global content providers and the deployment of edge nodes in the region.
