Australian IT companies lack DevOps knowledge, says report

Australian IT companies need to build, test and rollout new or updated DevOps solutions to customers “faster than ever before”, according to Computer World.

Robert Half research found enhanced departmental collaboration in many companies as Australian CIOs rate the collaboration of IT professionals within their department an average score of 7 out of 10.

According to the report, nearly 31% of IT CIOs don’t currently have a DevOps approach in place in their IT departments, as opposed to 63% of CIOs who are already building solid foundations for further innovation by successfully implementing DevOps.

Other challenges relating to DevOps implementation with Australian CIOs include lack of DevOps strategy (38%), lack of central governance (36%), changing company culture/traditional hierarchical structures 36% and enhancing collaboration within the IT team (27%).

The report concludes most challenges experienced by companies in relation to DevOps directly relate to a lack of talent in the area.
