Amazon Web Services to be a part of prpl Foundation

It was recently announced that Amazon Web Services (AWS) would be joining the board of prpl Foundation.

The foundation hopes to standardize cloud-based application orchestration so as to manage the life cycle of containerized software components for next-generation customer-premises equipment (CPE) software stacks. By doing so, providers will be able to scale operations more easily through the containerization of apps and services, with simplified CPE application deployments and updates.

AWS will then collaborate with prpl members and partners in the telecommunications ecosystem to create a platform-independent service delivery framework. This will help the development of a standardized framework for cloud-to-CPE device orchestration.

Hence, with AWS, service providers and vendors will be able to implement a modular design approach for CPE software stacks that leverage the advantages of the cloud.
