It was recently found out that human error is still a key factor leading to data breaches.
Indeed, a study by Verizon showed that 82% of data breaches in 2021 involved human error such as the use of stolen credentials, phishing, and misuse. 14% were due to human mistakes only. Hence, this shows that people play a vital role in data incidents and this should be monitored more closely.
It was then recommended that organizations invest more in data protection, in secure configuration of enterprise assets and software, in account management, in access control management, and in security awareness and skills training.
