Many developers want to continue working remotely

Many developers want to keep working from home as they are able to do more meaningful work and not get distracted.

Indeed, a recent report by Terminal revealed that remote working remains extremely high within the developer community due to more flexibility and a better work-life balance. Software professionals are also realizing that they don’t have to relocate to have well-paid and rewarding jobs.

75% of developers want to work from home at least three days a week, while 60% are already working fully remote, and 75% are working remotely three days a week or more. More than half reported that their productivity increased when working from home, as well as having a better work-life balance and feeling less stressed.

However, there are also some drawbacks such as isolation and a lack of day-to-day social personal interactions. It also makes collaboration and inclusion more difficult, which leads to challenges within career development as they are less visible to their managers.

Hence, software engineers would like to have more utilities, internet, or home-office stipends from employers to help them work remotely. They also want to have more flexibility in their working hours as well as access to mental health and wellness services.
